Introduction to Medical Reserve Corps

Introduction to MRC includes four powerpoint presentations and a quiz. The presentations cover an introduction to the medical reserve corps, HIPPA, Psychological First Aid, and an introduction to the Volunteer Reception Center.  Complete all four presentations and then click on the "Proceed to Testing Area" link to complete the quiz.  Once the quiz results are submitted you will receive a certificate of completion.  Please keep this for your records.

Incident Command System

ICS 100:  ICS 100, an introduction to the Incident Command System, introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training.  This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System.  It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management Systems (NIMS).

ICS 700: This course introduces and overviews the National Incident Management System (NIMS).  NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all government, private-sector, and non-government organizations to work together during domestic incidents.

Psychological First Aid

Psychological First Aid (PFA) online includes a six (6) hour interactive course that puts the participant in the role of a provider in a post-disaster scene.  This professionally-narrated course is for individuals new to disaster response who want to learn the core goals of PFA, as well as for seasoned practioners who want a review.  It features innovative activities, video demonstrations, and mentor tips from the nation's trauma experts and survivors.  PFA online also offers a Learning Community where participants can share about experiences of using PFA in the field, recieve guidance during times of disaster, and obtain additional resources and training.  This project was funded by SAMHSA, NCPTSD, NACCHO, and HHS Office of the Surgeon General, Office of the Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps.  Please note that you must create an account to be able to complete the training.

Epidemiology Response Team Training

Epidemiology Response Team Training: Training from the University of North Carolina Center for Public Health Preparedness.  MRC volunteers should complete all three courses and send the certificates to skovach@mahoninghealth.org.
